London 2012
In the summer of 2012, London played host to two prestigious events. The first was HRH Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee, who has since become Britain’s longest servicing monarch, and the second was the 30th summer Olympic Games.
This portfolio captures both the pageantry and celebration of both events. The Diamond Jubilee featured the floating flotilla on the River Thames which was a huge success despite the traditionally British heavy rains. The Olympics was a magnificent showcase for London with the spectacular opening ceremony, directed by Oscar winner Danny Boyle, culminating with the entrance of Team GB dressed in the Union Jack setting the scene for the sporting drama of the ensuing weeks as many members of the supporting public dressed in Union Jack attire not only for the Olympics but also at the Diamond Jubilee calibrations.
